I too will not use this with ads, and unfortunately for the developer its not worth 99 cents either as it is right now. As much as I love old maps, theres just not a lot here to make it a compelling app.

Its now nothing more than a pathetic platform for trying to make money off of iAd. Go with something like the National Geographic one that, while is 0.99, does not force so many adds on the screen.

The ad banner now makes this app unusable. Too bad, but its not like these maps are the developers creation. The developer slapped ads on public domain material. Pathetic. Goodbye app.

Overwhelming Ads ruin this app....deleted.

Dev added iAds. Ruined app after I bought it. Deleted changed rating to one star. Feel cheated.

I am sure I have wasted money on a more a more disappointing product but I cant remember when. What a joke.

Id rather spend $0.99 for this than deal with iAds. Its an interesting app thats been diminished by the inclusion of ads. If you already have the app, dont upgrade past 3.0 and you can continue to enjoy a fairly interesting app without being bombarded with annoying ads.

It is too bad the developer added advertisements to this application. While the ads do not impact the maps, they are obtrusive.

A fantastic resource. Being a map geek, I have really enjoyed these collections. But, I have to agree the majority of comments here. The ads are excessive and significantly detract from the use of the app. The developer has to make some money, but this isnt going to work. Id rather purchase the app up front.

On a visual App, ads are very detrimental. Will tell others to avoid until ads are removed.

Great app before the add update. It still gets 5 stars due to me already having the old version on my iPod. I updated and was angry but luckily I had the old version on my iPod. Dont update!!!

This is a great app. I understand the need to make money for further development, but the scrolling is downright obnoxious. This is a beautiful app, or was until the ads started moving across the screen. Perhaps an ad that appears in the beginning, then fades, or a static ad below the maps so it doesnt interfere. I realllly dont want to delete your app. Please please pleeeeaaassse fix this.

A lot of cool maps. Athough as a person who loves the classics, i wish there were more from classical antiquity. The oldest map is from 400 ad right before the western roman empire fell.

Currently free,so I dont mind the ads.maps scale very well.

Another great app ruined by adding iAds! Why cant developers at least be a bit creative with the ads? I.e., instead of having them permanently displayed (thereby ruining the visual appeal and taking away from the already limited small screen space of the iPod), why cant there just be one ad every time one launches the app, and once one has seen it, one can close the ad and then is no longer bothered by them until the next, new launch of the app? I think a lot of users would be more willing to put up with that, instead of having to constantly see these ugly, distracting ads.

This app has quite a selection of maps, literally dating back from when cartography started. You can search for world maps by Category or Era. I can only imagine the time, patience, and dedication it must have taken to research the maps and format them for viewing on a mobile device. Its an educational FREE app with a minimum use of ads.
